Jesus Over Everything — The Lordship of Christ in Every Area of Life

To say “Jesus Over Everything” means that He is above our emotions, possessions, circumstances, and even our dreams.

Life can easily become a whirlwind of priorities — work, family, dreams, relationships, money, and struggles. But as followers of Christ, we are reminded that only one name deserves to be above all — the name of Jesus Christ.
When Jesus is placed first, everything else falls into its rightful place.
Colossians 1:17 says, “He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.”
That means without Jesus, life falls apart — but with Him, everything comes into perfect order.

Today, let us reflect on what it means to truly declare, Jesus Over Everything.”

Our world constantly demands our attention — careers, family, ambitions, fears, and struggles. But the Christian life begins and thrives only when Jesus Christ takes first place in our hearts.
He isn’t just a part of our life — He is our life.

Colossians 1:18 says,

“That in all things He might have the preeminence.”

To say “Jesus Over Everything” means that He is above our emotions, possessions, circumstances, and even our dreams.
It is a declaration of total surrender — a life where Christ reigns as King over every thought, decision, and desire.

Let’s now go through the five pillars of this truth.

Point 1: Jesus Over My Fears

📖 Isaiah 41:10 – “Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.”

Fear tries to rule our minds — fear of the future, fear of failure, fear of loss.
But when Jesus reigns in our hearts, fear loses its power.
The presence of Christ gives us courage, peace, and confidence that no storm can shake.
To put Jesus over fear means trusting His promises even when we don’t understand His plan.

When you lift Jesus above fear, faith begins to rise.

Fear is one of the biggest enemies of faith. It paralyzes, confuses, and blinds us from God’s promises.
We fear failure, sickness, loneliness, rejection, and even the unknown future.

But when you declare “Jesus Over My Fears,” you’re choosing to trust His presence over your panic.

Remember when the disciples were afraid in the storm (Mark 4:35–41)?
Jesus didn’t just calm the waves — He calmed their hearts.
He reminded them that the One who created the sea is greater than the storm itself.

➡️ When you lift Jesus higher than your fear, faith begins to rise.
➡️ When you put your trust in Him, peace becomes your portion.

Faith says: “I don’t know what tomorrow holds, but I know who holds tomorrow.”

Point 2: Jesus Over My Circumstances

📖 Romans 8:28 – “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him.”

Life is unpredictable. Problems come and go.
But Jesus is constant — the same yesterday, today, and forever.
Putting Jesus over your circumstances means believing that God is working even when life feels unfair.
It means you don’t let your situation define your faith; instead, you let your Savior define your situation.

When Jesus is over your circumstances, peace reigns in your chaos.

Circumstances are temporary — God’s sovereignty is eternal.
Many times we face hardships that we cannot explain — financial struggle, sickness, loss, or waiting seasons.
But every trial is an opportunity to see the hand of God at work.

Putting Jesus above our circumstances means we don’t let the storm define us; we let the Savior guide us.

Joseph in the Old Testament was betrayed, falsely accused, and imprisoned.
Yet he never lost sight of God’s hand in his situation.
In the end, he could say,

“You meant evil against me, but God meant it for good” (Genesis 50:20).

➡️ Your situation might look hopeless now, but Jesus can turn ashes into beauty.
➡️ When you put Jesus above your circumstances, He gives meaning to your pain and purpose to your journey.

Point 3: Jesus Over My Desires

📖 Matthew 6:33 – “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”

We all have dreams and ambitions — and that’s good! But when our desires take first place, Jesus gets pushed aside.
Putting Jesus over your desires means saying, “Lord, Your will be done, not mine.”
It’s about surrender — trusting that what God wants for you is always better than what you want for yourself.
When Jesus becomes your greatest desire, every blessing will follow in God’s perfect time.

Our desires are not wrong — God created us with dreams and passions.
But problems begin when our desires take the throne of our hearts.
When success, relationships, or recognition matter more than obedience to God, we lose peace.

Surrendering your desires means saying, “Lord, even if You don’t give me what I want, I will still trust You.”

Jesus Himself prayed in Gethsemane,

“Not My will, but Yours be done.”

➡️ True peace comes when we let God choose what’s best for us.
➡️ When you make Jesus your ultimate desire, every other need is taken care of in divine timing.

He knows what will bless you — and what will break you.

Point 4: Jesus Over My Possessions

📖 Mark 8:36 – “What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?”

Our world values wealth, fame, and success — but true riches are found in Christ alone.
When Jesus is over your possessions, your heart is free from greed and comparison.
You learn to be content, generous, and thankful.
Everything we have belongs to God — and when we put Jesus above material things, He multiplies peace, joy, and provision.

Jesus is not against you having things — He’s against things having you.

📖 Mark 8:36 – “What does it profit a man to gain the whole world and yet lose his soul?”

We live in a world that glorifies wealth and possessions.
Money itself is not evil — but when it rules our hearts, it becomes an idol.

When Jesus is over your possessions, you begin to see yourself as a steward, not an owner.
Everything you have — your time, talent, and treasure — belongs to God.

Remember the rich young ruler (Mark 10:17–27)?
He kept all commandments but couldn’t let go of his wealth to follow Jesus.
Why? Because his possessions possessed him.

➡️ When Jesus is over your wealth, you give freely, love deeply, and live contentedly.
➡️ You stop comparing, start trusting, and walk in gratitude.

Jesus doesn’t want your money — He wants your heart.
And when He has your heart, everything else follows.

Point 5: Jesus Over My Life

📖 Philippians 2:9–11 – “Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place... that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow.”

To say “Jesus over everything” is to say “Jesus over me.”
It means living daily in surrender — letting His Spirit guide your choices, His Word shape your thoughts, and His love overflow through your actions.
When Jesus is Lord over your life, you walk in freedom, not fear.
You walk in purpose, not confusion.
And you live not for yourself, but for the glory of God.

When Jesus is over your life, everything under you comes into divine order.

📖 Philippians 2:9–11 – “At the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth.”

This is the ultimate point — Jesus must be Lord over your entire life.
That means He has authority over your words, your relationships, your work, and your future.

When Jesus reigns, you stop living for yourself and start living for His glory.
You forgive those who hurt you.
You love those who don’t deserve it.
You walk in humility because you know everything you have is by grace.

➡️ When Jesus is truly over your life, you live in freedom, not fear.
➡️ You no longer chase the world’s approval — you rest in God’s acceptance.

Let Him lead, and you’ll never be lost.
Let Him guide, and you’ll never fall away.

Fill us with Your wisdom, strengthen our faith, and let our lives be a testimony of Your grace and power.
We surrender everything to You, because You deserve all glory and honor.

In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, we pray,
Amen.
